City of Rocks National Reserve
City of Rocks National Reserve - Dramatic granite pinnacles reach for the sky at this remarkable national reserve that once served as a landmark for pioneers headed to California. With rock faces and monoliths that are more than 2.5 billion years old, this is a hot-spot for rock climbers, hikers, horseback riders, and people who love stunning natural views. You can follow the more than 500 climbing routes, ride or hike along the trails, watch for wildflowers and wildlife, or take along the bird check-list and enjoy a day of bird watching. The reserve includes more than 22 miles of trails and one hundred 300-foot spires that are perfect for climbing or photographing. You can also head to the beach to walk beside the water. |

Carmela Vineyards
Carmela Vineyards - You'll find award-winning wines, wine cellar tours, a relaxing lounge, and excellent golfing at the scenic Carmela Vineyards, set in the countryside near the Snake River and Three Island State Park. You can taste varieties like Merlot, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Cab-Merlot, Semillon, River Mist, Johannisburg Riesling, and "Bodacious" Meritage (a red wine), all of which are made from 100% Idaho-grown grapes. You can learn about wine making, visit the gift shop for wines to take home, or settle back in the stone chateau for a delicious meal at the restaurant. Afterwards, play a round of 9 on the public golf course that winds around 50 acres of lovely vineyards. |
