| Boating and bird watching are favorite pastimes. The Colorado, Caney and Tres Palacios rivers provide the necessary fresh water to Matagorda Bay, making it one of the greatest sport fishing locations on the Gulf Coast. The areas bountiful natural habitat is home to hundreds of wildlife species and has gained the reputation as being one of the real "hot spots" for birders. |

The lighted pier and historic Pavilion are within walking distance of our resort. The city of Palacios has 9 parks, public boat ramps, seven miles of shoreline, sandy beaches, a public golf course, public library, jogging trails, lighted seawall walking course, Karankawa Trace Nature Trail, bird watching and fishing. The Port of Palacios is home to the largest shrimping fleet in Texas. You can find fresh seafood available at the area restaurants as well as Tex-Mex cuisine, burgers, bbq, and more. |
Sunset

Sunsets over Matagorda Bay are really beautiful. The charter boats offer fishing, sunset cruises, sailing, bird watching, exploring and just about anything else you want to do. There is kayaking, canoeing, oystering, crabbing and biking. |
| Shrimp and oyster boats are a common sight. The largest fleet in the state is docked in the turning basins adjacent to our park. |
