The Royal Gorge Bridge stretches a quarter mile across the scenic granite Royal Gorge, suspended 1,053 feet above the Arkansas River and is still the hallmark of the attraction. The Royal Gorge Route Railroad is a the best way to see the area's beautiful and stunning scenery, featuring dinner and wine train tours this year.While Rocky Mountain Dinosaur Resource Center in nearby Woodland Park offers you an opportunity to see the #1 Dinosaur attraction in Colorado. Visit The Winery at Holy Cross Abbey and enjoy a one-of-a-kind experience in the tasting room. Cripple Creek, a late 1800's historic mining town transformed into a small gambling community is only 45 minutes away. The history and scenic views are incredible on any of the 3 roads which may lead you to your pot of gold. Want to resemble an 1800 gold prospector, then get your panning gear in the campground office and head west along the Arkansas river to a number of public gold prospecting sites and see if you can strike it rich.
