Enjoy Fishing and Boating on the River
The Eel River offers year-round fishing opportunities, from fall and winter salmon and steelhead runs to late spring and early summer shad fishing. The Eel River is best known for its winter steelhead, which start moving into the river in November, with peak activity during January (fishing continues through March). Our area offers a number of fishing excursions, from Wild River Fishing (California steelhead and salmon guided fishing trips around the Redwood National Park Wilderness) and Valley Guide Service (floating trips down the river and winter steelhead excursions). |

A Peaceful Community
You'll find a number of fun events in the area, from the annual Fortuna Rodeo to our Reggae on the River festival. Stay with us at River's Edge RV Park in the Redwoods and take part in April events like the Paddle to the Headwaters, Godwit Days, and our Rhododendron Parade and Festival. In May we celebrate the Kinetic Sculpture Race, the Ave. of the Giants Marathon, and the Tour of the Unknown Coast. Over the summer we enjoy the Dell Arte Mad River Festival, August's Wildwood Days, and our monthly Arts Alive program. You can catch a play or performance at the Arkley Center for the Performing Arts, visit the Discovery Museum, or catch a game with the Humboldt Crabs semi-pro baseball team. |
