Texas State Aquarium - Located on nearly 8 acres of Corpus Christi Beach, the Texas State Aquarium allows visitors to tour the Gulf of Mexico without getting in the water. As soon as you enter the aquarium, you are greeted by the smells of the sea and sounds of Mother Nature. You'll begin your self-guided tour with the Plaza of the Whales and view coastal habitats, then move on to Back Bay Marsh and get nose to nose with an alligator. Next is the Star Touch Pool where you can pick up sea creatures including sea urchins, hermit crabs, and others. Don't miss the Seahorse exhibit, schooling fish, sea turtles, tiger sharks, and the new Amazon exhibit. There are also dolphins, otters and stingrays. Plan to spend the day so you can see all the amazing sea animals. local1
Texas State Aquarium
Fulton Mansion State Historic Site - An amazing home in the 1870's when it was built, the Fulton Mansion remains an important architectural landmark of the Aransas Bay. This three story high-style Victorian suburban villa features ornate trimwork, stylish interiors, and original furnishings. Guided tours are available every hour on the hour, allowing visitors to view this historical home and learn about its history. There is also a picnic area on the grounds, a Texas State Park Store, and interpretive gardens where visitors can watch birds & butterflies, learn about old-fashioned plant species, and view the Texas Bluebonnets local2
Fulton Mansion State Historic Site
Mustang Island State Park - Once inhabited by the Karankawa Indians, Mustang Island today offers visitors five miles of open beach for picnicking, fishing, swimming, hiking, biking, surfing, and excellent sunbathing. Mustang Island is a coastal barrier island riddled with sand dunes and inhabited by squirrels, opossums, cottontail rabbits, and armadillos. Visitors can enjoy wildlife viewing as well as birding. Facilities include rinsing showers, portable toilets, and some shade shelters. local3
Mustang Island State Park
Corpus Christi Botanical Gardens - Take a self-guided tour through pristine natural wetlands and shaded mesquite forests to view more than 2500 orchids, 70 vividly-colored hibiscus, 250 fragrant plumeria, and 300 breathtaking roses. This unique 180-acre garden also serves as a preserve for native vegetation and wildlife. The Visitor Center features floral displays, a fountain walk, and additional water features. The gardens are open Tuesday through Sunday.
