McPherson Water Park - The McPherson Water Park offers fun for all ages with an assortment of activities. Float down the 500-foot lazy river, swim laps in the 500-meter pool, or let the kids play in the unique spray-ground. Take a deep breath and scream your way down the giant water slide, experience the deep diving area, or just relax in the sun bathing areas. McPherson Water Park also features a zero depth entry pool, kids' slides, concessions, shade areas, and more. McPherson Museum
McPherson Museum - Located only a few minutes from McPherson RV Ranch and Horse Motel, McPherson Museum began as a collection of study artifacts for McPherson College; today, there are over 20,000 items focusing on the cultural heritage of the city of McPherson. The McPherson Museum has an impressive array of artifacts representing local and pioneer history, as well as paleontology, geology, and fine art. Permanent exhibits include the first man-made diamond, the skin of Leo the MGM lion, dolls and toys from the turn of the century, and farm tools & household items of pioneer days. There are also treasures from the famed La Brea tar pits. The first floor of the museum has been restored to its original state as a period home. A tour of McPherson Museum will introduce visitors to many unique items, as well as providing a unique look into the past.
Maxwell Wildlife Refuge - Maxwell Wildlife Refuge is a piece of naturally preserved prairie comprised of rolling hills, creeks, and beautiful tall prairie grass. The refuge is the only place in Kansas where free-roaming buffalo and elk can be viewed; there are 200 head of bison and 50 elk on 2,800 acres. The best way to view the animals is by taking a guided prairie tour aboard a tram. Maxwell Wildlife Refuge offers three trams, one of which is handicap accessible. Tours consist of traveling along a prairie trail with a guide relating history of the area; tours usually take approximately 45 minutes. Maxwell Wildlife Refuge definitely offers beautiful views of the prairie and its inhabitants, making it a truly unique experience. Be sure to make time to visit the tour center where you'll find displays of Native American artifacts, bird & wildflower brochures, and a gift shop. Old Town Marketplace - Located just under an hour away from McPherson RV Ranch and Horse Motel in the subdued hustle and bustle of Wichita, Old Town Marketplace is one place you don't want to miss.
