Tour the family attractions, historic sights, and outdoor treasures of the beautiful Laurel Highlands

Great Allegheny Passage - For incredible biking, hiking, and horseback riding along the rivers, woods, and rolling hills of Southwestern Pennsylvania, spend some time on the Great Allegheny Passage. This 150-mile trail stretches from Cumberland, Maryland to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, winding through some of the most scenic countryside in the state. Formed through a union of seven rails-to-trails programs under the Allegheny Trail Alliance, the Great Allegheny Passage is a marvelous way to see Pennsylvania. Watch for wildflowers and wildlife as you follow the trail or visit in autumn for a spectacular display of fall color. local1

Idlewild Park - With themed areas like the Story Book Forest, SoakZone, Jumpin' Jungle, and Raccoon Lagoon, it's no surprise that Idlewild Park is a fabulous attraction for kids of all ages. Cool off in the summer with inner tube rides down a watery flume, then meet Raggedy Ann and Andy or Goldilocks when you step into the pages of the Story Book Forest. Visit the old-fashioned mining town, ride the Howler, or catch some thrills on the roller coasters and bumper cars. From Ferris Wheels to rides that spin, dip, drop, and splash, you'll find it all at Idlewild Park in Ligonier, Pennsylvania. local2

Seven Springs Mountain Resort - For year round outdoor activities and recreation, head to the gorgeous natural beauty of Seven Springs Mountain Resort, one of the mid-Atlantic's most popular destinations. Visit in winter for excellent downhill and cross-country skiing, snowboarding, tubing, and snowmobiling on their pristine slopes. In the warmer months, you can enjoy golfing the 18-hole course in the Laurel Mountains, plus hiking and biking on the forested trails, horseback riding, and fly fishing. Swim in the outdoor or indoor pool, then explore the game room, the bowling alley, the mini golf course or the hot tub. Catch a show or enjoy one of their fine dining or casual restaurants, all with scenic mountain views. local3
