| Great Allegheny Passage - For incredible biking, hiking, and horseback riding along the rivers, woods, and rolling hills of Southwestern Pennsylvania, spend some time on the Great Allegheny Passage. This 150-mile trail stretches from Cumberland, Maryland to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, winding through some of the most scenic countryside in the state. Formed through a union of seven rails-to-trails programs under the Allegheny Trail Alliance, the Great Allegheny Passage is a marvelous way to see Pennsylvania. | Flight 93 - On Tuesday morning, September 11, 2001, the U.S. came under attack when four commercial airliners were hijacked and used to strike targets on the ground. Nearly 3,000 people tragically lost their lives. Because of the actions of the 40 passengers and crew aboard one of the planes, Flight 93, the attack on the U.S. Capitol was thwarted. |
