| Shenandoah National Park - Shenandoah National Park lies astride a beautiful section of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Skyline Drive, a 105-mile road that winds along the crest of the mountains through the length of the park, provides vistas of the spectacular landscape to east and west. The park holds more than 500 miles of trails, including 101 miles of the Appalachian Trail. | Shenandoah Caverns - Not only is Shenandoah Caverns the most outstanding cave system in Virginia, but it's the only one with elevator service to its seventeen underground rooms. Michie Tavern ca. 1784 - One of the oldest homesteads in Virginia, Michie Tavern ca. 1784, is located on a mountainside near Jefferson's Monticello. Visitors dine on hearty midday fare in the Tavern's Ordinary from 11:15 - 3:30 April through October and 11:30 - 3:00 November through March where they are greeted by servers in period attire. Afterwards, a tour of the original Tavern features living history where guests participate in 18th-century activities including a lively Virginia dance. The tour continues, viewing the dependent outbuildings, the Virginia Wine Museum and the Meadow Run Grist Mill.
