Lassen Volcanic National Park - Lassen Volcanic National Park is located in Northeastern California at the southern boundary of the Cascade Mountains, approximately 36 miles south of Hat Creek Resort. The park's landscape consists of peaceful forests, gem-like lakes, and all four types of volcanoes in the world. Over 150 miles of trails and a culturally significant scenic highway provide access to volcanic wonders including steam vents, mudpots, boiling pools, volcanic peaks, and painted dunes. Activities in Lassen Volcanic National Park include hiking, wildlife viewing, sightseeing, picnicking, and participating in the interpretive programs offered during the spring and summer months, as well as skiing, snowshoeing, and sledding opportunities in the winter. Lassen Volcanic National Park is open to visitors 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
McArthur-Burney Falls Memorial State Park - McArthur-Burney Falls Memorial State Park is within the Cascade Mountain Range and Modoc Plateau natural region of northern California, with acres of forest and five miles of streamside and lake shoreline, including a segment of Lake Britton. The park's focal point is the 129-foot Burney Falls, which is not the highest or largest fall in the state, but it is certainly the most beautiful. McArthur-Burney Falls Memorial State Park's landscape was created by volcanic activity as well as erosion from the weather, and features mountain peaks, black, volcanic rock, and natural springs. Activities at McArthur-Burney Falls Memorial State Park include hiking, sightseeing, picnicking, wildlife viewing, and birding, as well as photography, exhibits at the visitor center, and water recreation. The park is located just north of Redding, a short drive from Hat Creek Resort. local3

Subway Cave
Subway Cave - Subway Cave is a lava tube, formed in the Hat Creek lava flow, less than 20,000 yeas ago. Today, visitors can view and explore this ancient cave. Subway Cave is located within the Lassen National Forest at road 44/89 north of the Old Station Visitor Information Center. From the parking lot, the trail leads to an entrance, where you then enter a stairway that takes you through Devil's Doorway through the many points of interest within the cave. Intriguing lava structure sand formations can be seen throughout your tour. If you want to explore the Subway Cave, keep in mind that it is cold (46 degrees F.) and dark. You should dress warmly and take a good flashlight with fresh batteries. The floor is rough, so sturdy shoes are a must. Do not tour the cave alone. The cave is located just minutes from Hat Creek Resort.
