| Whether you want to play all day or just relax, you'll find many
refreshing ways to enjoy your vacation. Many of the outdoor activities
centers on the Curecanti National Recreation Area, which is just across the road from Gunnison Lakeside Resort. The Blue Mesa Reservoir is the largest body of water in Colorado and offers excellent fishing; rainbow trout, Mackinaw (lake) trout, and German (brown) trout can all be caught in the reservoir. The Blue Mesa Reservoir also provides ample opportunities for bird watching, hiking and nature trails among scenic vistas and swimming at several less rocky locations. Spend some time looking for wildlife; you might spot marmots, mountain cottontails, or even bighorn sheep. You won't have to go very far to experience the natural and immeasurable beauty of Colorado. |
