| Four Seasons Campground is located in a lovely area right across from Herrin Park, a public city park offering a lighted walking path ideal for a morning trek or walking your pet. There are also trails and public picnic areas, as well as swimming in a private lake and a playground for little ones to enjoy. Enjoy hiking, biking, and wildlife viewing. Bird watching is also excellent at Four Seasons Campground and within Herrin Park; watch for Bald Eagles in particular. The area also affords many lakes for fishing where the angler can catch a trophy-sized bass, bluegill, enormous catfish, and sunfish. Horseback riding on the nearby trails can be a thrilling experience as well; the wild beauty of the Shawnee National Forest is especially enjoyable. Other popular activities in the area include rock climbing, golfing, and hunting. Or you can just relax at Four Seasons Campground. |
| Herrin and its surrounding area have much to offer the visitor, from local shopping and dining, to exciting cultural museums and Illinois history. In nearby Marion, one can shop endless stores in the Illinois Centre Mall, or browse the local antique and gift shops. Visit the Harrison Home, the home of one of Herrin's founders and view period furniture and artifacts. Neighboring cities include Carbondale, Harrisburg, West Frankfort, and Mount Vernon. A little further east, the Cave-In-Rock State Park overlooks the Ohio River and features a 55-foot wide cave. Rend Lake is just 20 minutes north and offers endless water recreation and a 27-hole championship golf course. |
