Located at the Southern tip of Texas, in the center of the lush
Rio Grande Valley, First Colony Park is nestled between the
outskirts of Harlingen and San Benito Texas, which are 7 miles apart.
Discover the intrigue and attractions of the valley.
Enjoy locally grown citrus, fruit & vegetables. Stop at the aloe vera
plantation - located just west of
Harlingen. Picnic on the beaches of South Padre Island (30 minutes
away), fish along the Gulf Coast, or enjoy a concert at Harlingen.
Visit nearby museums & the Gladys Porter Zoo.
Two
national wildlife refuges and other birding hotspots are
easily accessible from the Harlingen/San Benito area, including
Butterfly/Bird sites. Golf at one of our nearby
golf courses - and don't forget the Greyhound dog races. Tour the
memorable San Juan Shrine or enjoy their music-filled Sunday
church service,(seats 2000 people). Remember to include a day of
shopping and eating at Mexico (about 30 min.).

Brownsville, the Gladys Porter Zoo is about a 20-25 minute drive from our
park. The Zoo consists of about 31 acres of lush
tropical plants and 1,500 animals (377 species of
animals). A must see attraction! |

Tropical Birder's Paradise
Harlingen area is located on the
convergence
of 2
major flyways - making it known worldwide as a
tropical birder's paradise. There is a 40 acre
tract of native bush in the city centre. Two
national wildlife refuges are easily accessible
from Harlingen. Walk among clouds of tropical
butterflys at Butterfly Paradise, also
located in the Rio Grande Valley. |
