Downtown Reidsville features an extensive antique district where visitors can hunt for one of a kind treasures in 11 antique shops and five antique malls. There is also a downtown farmers market where you can pick up some fresh produce, hand-crafted items, and friendly conversation. Hanging Rock State Park
Hanging Rock State Park - Located just off the beaten path of the four-lane highways, there is another world to discover in Danbury, North Carolina. Steep cliffs and peaks of rocks, peaceful forests, and cascading waterfalls all await you at Hanging Rock State Park. Visitors can hike up to the famous rock out cropping and enjoy fantastic views of the Piedmont Plateau. The park offers many activities that will help you put life's hectic pace into perspective; hike on 18 miles of wooded passageways, picnic in several areas offering tables and grills, or enjoy boating, fishing, and swimming on the 12-acre lake. For the more adventurous soul, rock climbing is allowed at the park. Hanging Rock State Park is more than outdoor recreation; the exhibit hall and visitor center features hands-on exhibits about plants, animals, geology, and more. Hanging Rock State Park is just 30 miles from Dan River Campground and is an excellent adventure for the whole family.
Virginia Museum of Natural History - Located in Martinsville, just 24 miles north of Dan River Campground, the Virginia Museum of Natural History is a unique place to spend an afternoon. The Virginia Museum of Natural History invites visitors to explore the impact of science on our everyday lives with ever-changing hands-on exhibits featuring astronomy and zoology. Permanent exhibits include the "Age of the Dinosaurs," "Ice Age Café," a rock hall of fame, and a nature nook. There are also fascinating exhibits on the Triassic Period, life in the sea, and wildflowers. The Virginia Museum of Natural History offers many on-site activities and programs for all age levels. local3

Old Salem
Old Salem - Old Salem is the most authentic and comprehensive history attraction in the country. Once you arrive you'll find yourself in a different time and place when you explore the four unique museums including the Old Salem Toy Museum and the Old Salem Children's Museum. Costumed interpreters carry out the work of the Moravians, and they are more than happy to stop and explain their daily chores and customs to visitors. Points of interest in Old Salem include at least nine gardens, the Tannenberg Organ in the visitor center, and dining at the Tavern Restaurant, which is located in the 1816 Tavern Annex. Of course there are excellent opportunities for shopping as well, ranging from bakeries and specialty food shops to jewelry and Christmas cards. Old Salem is located just 37 miles south of Dan River Campground.
