| World Birding Center - The lower Rio Grande Valley is the center of a phenomenal convergence of birds from all over North America. This first-class birding destination is the setting for the World Birding Center, a network of nine birding sites that stretch from South Padre Island to Roma. These nine sites include wetlands, beach surf, riverside woodlands, and scenic bluffs. Stop at any of these nine sites -- or at the headquarters at Bentsen-Rio Grande Valley State Park -- to watch for orioles, kites, parrots, parakeets, green jays, and nearly 300 other species. The center provides viewing stations, watching towers, special programs, and interpretive centers. |
