Hells Canyon National Recreation Area - From 9,300-foot alpine peaks to desert-like river bottoms some 7,000 feet below, Hells Canyon National Recreation Area contains an amazing variety of elevation and environment. Hells Canyon itself is the deepest river gorge/canyon in North America. Visitors can enjoy pedaling down criss-crossing trails, hike along steep and narrow paths, or raft through frothy, white water with tall mountains rising on either side. Popular activities include wildlife viewing with an abundance of Brids of pray, bighorn sheep, deer, and mountain goats. There are also 24 species of plants found in Hells Canyon National Recreation Area that can be found nowhere else on earth. Other activities include horseback riding, mountain biking, and using an outfitter to lead you down the river or through the wild landscape. Huntington Historical Museum
Oregon Trail Regional Museum - The Oregon Trail Regional Museum is a collection of regional history, outstanding rocks, minerals, gemstones, and cabochons. The collection is housed in a National Register of Historic Places' building built in 1920 as a Natatorium (a place to swim). Once inside, visitors will find classic cars, items from the movie "Paint Your Wagon," which was filmed in Baker City in 1968, and an extensive rock collection. The Oregon Trail Regional Museum also features animals of the region, including bears and cougars. Farewell Bend State Recreation Area - Located on the Oregon/Idaho border north of Ontario, the historic Farewell Bend State Recreation Area offers a beautiful and unique desert experience on the banks of the Snake River's Brownlee Reservoir. Farewell Bend State Recreation Area is the spot where Oregon Trail Pioneers would take a final rest before heading inland towards Oregon City. Visitors can enjoy historic markers and interpretive displays throughout the park and in downtown Huntington. Wagon ruts are visible as well. Hells Canyon Winery
Hells Canyon Winery - Nestled among the incredible scenery of the deepest river gorge in the country, Hells Canyon Winery is a product of a lifelong passion for food and wine. Founded in 1980 by Steve and Leslie Robertson, the Hells Canyon Winery thrives in an unknown wine growing area overlooking the Snake River. The winery produces at least 3,000 cases of premium Idaho wine per year. Specialty wines include Hells Canyon Retriever Red, Bird Dog White, Seven Devils Red, and Crooked River Chardonnay. Hells Canyon Winery is located in Caldwell, Idaho, just over the border from Huntington, Oregon. Stop in for a tour and tasting on Saturday or Sunday, from noon to five pm. The winery holds an open house each year at Thanksgiving when visitors can taste all the new wines for the year.
