Apostle Islands National Lakeshore encompasses 21 islands, not including Madeline Island, perfect for activities like  fishing, hunting, hiking and scuba diving.  Enjoy the warm small town atmosphere by participating in the community festivals and events. Sample the specialties of the island restaurants at the annual Chequamegon Chefs Exhibition, where chefs serve up their tastiest creations. There's an in-line skate marathon in June and a Point to La Pointe swim fundraiser in August. October brings Applefest, a celebration of the popular fruit that produces every variation of culinary delight from apple pie to apple bratwurst, and takes place in Bayfield. Music, vendors, parades and games add to the festivities.
