Admire the view of the islands from the windows of the Legendary Waters Resort & Casino, within the boundaries of the national park, at the Red Cliff Objiway Band Reservation on the mainland, while you play a hand of blackjack or spin the reels of the slot machine. Learn the fascinating history of the area at the Madeline Island Museum, where local relics and artifacts are gathered from every era. Robert Trent Jones, Sr. designed an intriguing 18-hole course in the midst of the island's forests that welcomes golfers of every skill level. If you're in the mood to enjoy a show, check out the roster of entertainment at the Lake Superior Big Top Chautauqua, located just south of Bayfield. .
|
Enjoy the warm small town atmosphere by participating in the community festivals and events. Sample the specialties of the island restaurants at the annual Chequamegon Chefs Exhibition, where chefs serve up their tastiest creations. There's an in-line skate marathon in June and a Point to La Pointe swim fundraiser in August. October brings Applefest, a celebration of the popular fruit that produces every variation of culinary delight from apple pie to apple bratwurst, and takes place in Bayfield. Music, vendors, parades and games add to the festivities. |
