Come get a taste of the local culture and visit the city of Bastrop. Bastrop, Texas is home of the Lost Pines of Texas, a 70,000 acre forest of Loblolly pine trees located about 100 miles west of their forest cousins. It is located on the Colorado River, 20 miles downstream for Austin, the capital of Texas.

The park provides opportunities for backpacking, camping, picnicking, canoeing, swimming (pool), golfing, wildlife viewing, hiking, and interpretive programs. For the bicyclists out there, there are many options. Whether you're a beginner or an expert rider, you will find what your looking for on Park Road 1C between Bastrop and Buescher State Parks. Enjoy the 12 mile scenic ride through the Lost Pines of East Central Texas. This roller coaster ride is part of the MS-150 (famed bike race from Houston to Austin.). The scenery is unmatched. Call the park for more information.

Or come and take some time to enjoy The Story of Texas Museum. The Bob Bullock Texas History Museum is a must see while in the Austin area. Opened in 2001, this unique collection of Texas lore will bring a smile to every face. Enjoy IMAX feature films, interactive displays, and a set-your-own-pace tour through Texas from pre-historic days until now.
